Things went well for a while. His dad stopped hitting him and his mom was working on bettering herself and his older sister moved away. Then Brian gave into heroin again. One of his old friends tried to rape his sister. Brian found out where he lived and him and his friends beat him up. Brian said he did heroin because he needed to calm down. I believed that that was his last time. After a while I called him and every time we were on the phone he was nodding out.
Telling me not to hang up cause if I did he was going to kill himself. I was afraid for him. I just wanted to make him realize how special he is to me and how much I loved him and wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.
Then it happened.
On December 8th he overdosed on heroin. His parents didn't find him until 37 minutes later. When I heard I figured he would be better he has gone through this before and turned out fine. My old counselor called me and said he was brain dead and had no chance. So after a few days of praying for a miracle they turned off life support. I was devastated. How could god take the other half of me away. How could they take someone so special and so unique away from this world. He brought so many people joy.

At his funeral over a thousand people showed up. I wish Brian knew before that so many people cared about him and then maybe he wouldn't of left us. They say there is always a solution to addiction. Unfortunatly Brians was death. Here is a poem I wrote for Brian a few days after he died. I hold it very close to my heart......Brian Fleagle »»
