Lazarus, Heroin Sheik:
Not talkin' Smack
By Nelson Gary

I will walk before they make me run - Jagger, Richards

For the last ten years or so, my wife picks up and splits, hits the road with the Rolling Stones for about two years at a stretch, taking breaks between the legs at home with me. I've spent some time on the road with her and Keith and the boys...and the girls, some of them, pranksters, "The Sisters of Sin" (SOS).

Since I was seven, the Stones have been my favorite band. Their lyrics tell the whole story whereas The Beatles only tell half (the half they stole from Jesus, who also said, "I come with a sword.")
My dad once said, "There are at least two rock songs that will stand the test of time: 'Light My Fire' and 'Satisfaction' (Sic)."
I told him I wanted to go on the road with the Stones and just hang out. My dad laughed, scoffing, "Ha, yeah! You'd be dead in a year." The main reason he rattled off this line was probably Keith Richards, who was and is, according to some, "the world most visible heroin addict," so, if there is heroin chic, Keith created it, not to mention, along with principally Mick Jagger, some of the greatest songs of the century past.

Sometimes, we forget that there is more to a person than writing music from a supernatural source, good taste and an encyclopedic knowledge in the most ancient music, blues, being a guitar player who is a study in open tuning or even being an open channel for the divine, though there's nothing better.
