A person may become an addict, thus, disenfranchised from the mainstream, "an exile on main street," arresting their development toward self actualization, because they can't find the holy grail to channel their own personal "ventilator blues" in a positive way and discover and accept the miracle and wonder that she or he truly is, so such a person may turn to the spike instead, while another to the status quo, accepting the demands "all down the line" without taking a break from the madding crowd and stepping away to gain perspective "until the whistle blows" or the duck comes down and gives away the prize.

Keith has a neighbor named Wally who has Down's syndrome. Keith regularly invites Wally to spend time with him on the road. Wally is the one of the most affable people you'd ever have the pleasure to meet. Wally and Keith were inseparable offstage when this documentary crew was shooting, but there was this one occasion when Wally wasn't there.
The interviewer asked Keith why in the world was he hanging out with this guy, Wally. Keith replied, He's a genius. The interviewer laughed and snidely asked, A genius at what?

Keith looked the interviewer dead in the eye and said, "At being himself!" which is something I doubt that particular interviewer could ever be and, sadly, the interviewer isn't in good company, and, tragically, the interviewer is in the majority.
Keith is an old soul much older than he looks. Keith, who has had a monkey on his back and imagination on his side, for most of his life, walked out of an elevator one night during the Bridges to Babylon tour.

Although he doesn't need a cane, he had one and had dogs with him: the vision of a San Lazaro candle. He had dark sunglasses on as if he had been temporarily blinded by a vision of God or maybe it was just his beautiful wife, Patti Hansen, a former supermodel, now a supermom, who was with him...and the dogs. Lazarus had Hansen's disease, leprosy.
