Conference In Albuquerque
Takes Aim at the War on Drugs

"The so-called war on drugs is really a war on families, a war on public health and a war on our constitutional rights"
Ethan Nadelmann, Director of the Lindesmith Center.

More then 700 people(I among them) gathered in Albuquerque from May 30th through June 2nd at a conference hosted by the Lindesmith Center to call for an end to the War on Drugs.
A wide variety of folks agreed on one thing:
The War on Drugs as it is currently being waged is a national disgrace doing far more harm than good. It has jailed hundreds of thousands of non-violent drug users, wasted billions of dollars trying with little success to stop the flow of grass and narcotics across our borders which money could have been used help the social conditions which set the stage for much of the hated drug use. It has also turned our government against its citizens.

Ethan, in addition to being Lindesmith's director,is the de facto cheerleader for the anti-drugwar movement. A movement that, by the way, is getting up a head of steam and making legislative headway (see prop #36 in California and the host of medical marijuana bills passed or heading for passage in many States of the Union) and also making inroads in public opinion.
Even the most conservative polls show that the public is turning away from endorsing the governments current drug policies.
Thank you God!
