Presenting.....

The Haight Ashbury Free Clinic
of San Francisco, Ca
House of the Dove on the Blue Cross
- Nelson Gary -
On March 21, I went to the historic Haight Ashbury District in San Francisco. It isn’t surprising that an area once internationally notorious for an amount of poly-substance abuse perhaps, only surpassed by Amsterdam has an equally legendary Drug Detoxification, Rehabilitation and Aftercare Program: The Haight Ashbury Free Clinic.

People come from all over the world to do their internships at The Haight Ashbury Free Clinic. Even during the brief time that I spent there, I learned quite a bit and could see why people would come from far and wide to do their internship at this clinic, and why even more addicts seeking freedom from addiction would come there if they knew of this facility.

Two friendly, humorous, and eloquent workers at the Haight Ashbury Free Clinic were able to give me a few minutes of their time, which I greatly appreciated.
Most of the conversation with John DeDomenico,(right) the Clinical Supervisor (M.F.C.C.) was centered on heroin detoxification.
