Hi all,
Eight months ago I wrote an article for "Heroin Times" about the power
of the
Web as a tool for help & support in recovering.
Little did I know that ... pause here for irony ... that the very
evening I
sent that modest piece off to the publisher, a series of events would
begin
that would put me in a jam with local authorities here.
Now, just a few days ago, on a hunch, I wrote to my Web-based recovery
associates & asked for assistance in the form of letters of reference
to help
me deal with this legal hassle.
Jesus ... what an outpouring! How many letters! How beautifully &
quickly &
thoughtfully written!
These few days & all those responses bring it home to me in a way that
had
been more theoretical than experiential that this IS most certainly a
community.
More than just something novel to diddle around with ... it's a thing
to
which we belong, and in which we have a role to play, and in which we
can
find identity, and from which we can borrow strength when our own is
failing.
It's a hell of a thing.
With gratitude
~ Bill ~ (in Pittsburgh)
