Reflections from Addicts
on the street

HT visited a methadone clinic in west Los Angeles, CA and asked these 6 recovering addicts:

What positive effect has the clinic had on your life?

Randall Randall L, 39

Randy is "thankful" that he no longer has to "run himself ragged" everyday just trying to "score". He has, instead, decided to "run himself ragged" at the local park, working on getting into shape for next year's LA Marathon.

SheldonSHELDON C, 71
Sheldon is Randall's "sponsor" and the guy responsible for helping him switch his addiction to running instead of substance abuse. Sheldon has a lifetime full of relapses. Consequently, he is most comfortable with long, sustained methadone doses---then small decreases, which he then sustains for a long period. Since he has "used" in over 2-years, who are we to argue with his method?
